Valentines Day

Happy Birthday Raisin!  She turns 14 years old today, Valentines Day.  She is the last remaining dog out of her litter.  Through the years I was lucky enough to get most of her whole family.  I first got her mother Galena, then her father and uncles, Borax, Chert and Topaz.  I also had her brother Daikon.  Borax and Chert are still living also here and they will be 15 in May.  Raisin was a wild sprint dog.  She loved to run.  Putting her into the team was always a challenge because she would be leaping 6 feet into the air.  If you were near by she would leap onto your back or your shoulders.  She would stand on the dog beside her and often get her legs through her partners harness….but amazingly enough the second you would start running she could always get herself back onto her side, untangled and ready to run.  She hasn’t run in quite a few years.  She has some tumors down her spine and her back legs have been pretty gimpy for a couple of years.  But it doesn’t stop her from running around the yard and having fun!  Happy Birthday Raisin.  I love you.

Pixel and friends

Well, I used to have a couch!  It is just a very large dog bed.  Pixel (in the middle of the couch) is our newest foster dog.  She fit in right away.  She is a yearling that has a ton of personality.  She loves other dogs and is settled in the house (for the most part!).  Jewel is on the left in the picture and Ivy is on the right.  On the floor (cushy dog beds and blankets) to the left is Mardy the Irish Setter (13.5 years old!) and Chiclet.

Pixel is looking for a home where she can have fun skijoring and live in the house.  This little short coated girl hates the cold although she is loving to run skijoring and doesn’t mind as long as it is above 0.  She is still a little “spooky” at times especially at night.  She can be outgoing and friendly one minute and then she goes into her “I don’t know you” mode…..it might be her eye sight because she only does this at night when the light is dim.  So we are going to have her checked out.
