Raja is running pain free

Rest in Peace our dear Raja. After several weeks of trying all kinds of pain meds, shots and laser therapy nothing was alleviating her painful arthritis. I was out of town when Don had her sent over the bridge. It was very odd to come home to not having her here. We guessed she was somewhere around 14 years old.

Bonsai is doing well although he is growing up and not out. He has long legs and a very skinny body. We will get his liver checked again this next week.
He has 2 new permanent teeth.

Bonsai’s good report

Bonsai loves his ball! He also loves to sleep with covers on.

He got a great report today at the vets. They did another blood panel and his values that were low when he first went in, especially his red blood count and his HCT, are now in the perfect normal range. Dr. Cole figures that he was probably malnourished before from his lack of food and able to keep things down. Now that he is getting steady food (even if it IS still in liquid form) his body is responding and recovering wonderfully.

We all have big smiles on our faces.

He will get his bile acids tested again in a couple of weeks and see where we stand with his liver problems.

He is one lucky puppy.

MacIntosh

MAC was adopted! YEAH!

Mac got his life saved today. At least for a little while longer. He has been at the shelter for around 6 weeks. No one was really looking at him. He was “listed” today but now has a reprieve. He was inside and not thought to be a sled dog. BUT…he has no dew claws and is already neutered. We took him today as kind of a last ditch effort to see if he would be adopted as a sled or skijoring dog.
This dog is a gem!! He knew what it was all about. He pretty much self loaded into the truck. We put him next to a female in heat and he ignored her. When we turned around we put him in lead and he did great. We even had a wild little sprint husky running loose all the way back. She would run up to the front and back through the team. Mac ignored her and just did his job up front.
He loves to give kisses. He is a very friendly boy. I bet he would make a great skijor dog. He is houndy and has a very short coat so a home where he could be an indoor pet plus get lots of winter exercise would be his ideal.
He does have some resource guarding issues so he should be fed alone and not around other dogs. But as far has his demeanor at the truck (chained next to Tiger an intact male) and on the line we saw no signs of him not liking other dogs.
Thanks for looking at Mac.

Buddy #2

Buddy #2 is an all white, tall and lanky husky. He is very friendly. Loves people. He is around 7-8 years old and spent a lot of his last several years in a pen. He is housebroken. He loves to run. His lope is lovely. When trotting he kind of kicks out his back legs. Not sure he could do super long distances.
He is a handsome dog and ready for a new home.

Tiger

Tiger is a cute smaller male husky. He has a ton of energy and loves to run. He is on the small side but has a lot of pull and desire. He runs with a very wide stance in the back. We never saw him trot.
He would probably make a great pet too as long as he gets a lot of exercise. He is getting bored at the shelter and would love a new home.

Twiggy

Twiggy was adopted! We are so happy!

Twiggy is a pointer/husky mix with a lot of personality. She is very friendly. She did run great for us today but, she has a bad back knee. Probably should not be a sled or skijoring dog. She would make someone a great family pet. She loves people and if given good walks during the day she would be a contented and happy girl. She has been at the shelter for a long time.

Blackie

Blackie came in with Spunky. He is on the thin side so will need a little extra care. But this guy goes! and goes! He loaded nicely in the truck and knew what he was doing. Hard on the line. A nice lope. He never trotted even when going slowly. He does have his dew claws.
He can be a bit shy at first, but really warmed up in the team. He is one of these dogs that is so excited to go that he grabs and pulls back on the line. You have to keep your eye on him at first-his love of running is evident and he can hardly contain himself.

Spunky

Spunky is a smaller female that is super personable and friendly. We all really like this girl. She might be pregnant though so that is being checked out and she might be spayed very quickly.
She ran great. She loves to go, knows the routine, rides well in the truck and has a nice lope and trot.
Yes, she is on the small side, but makes up for it in her huge heart and love of working.
She still has her dew claws.

Buddy

Buddy is a houndy boy that is VERY enthusiastic. He has been adopted and brought back to the shelter several times. He just needs a job. I could see this boy skijoring. He is a nice solidly built boy of about 55 pounds. He is pretty fast too.
He does need some training and and a calm person. He is known to be mouthy if things get out of control. I wish I had a ball today to give to him while we were hooking up. He was unsure of what we were doing. I don’t know if he has ever been in a team.
But he is a natural. Pulled hard the whole time. Beautiful lope. Although we slowed way down he never trotted. He loved the work. I bet he could go for miles and miles.
Back at the shelter he was jumping around and barking like we never took him.

He is a very strong boy that doesn’t understand a “leash” but I bet he could learn and would be your best companion on runs or skijors or even in a sprint team.
Buddy is already neutered.

Hail

We ran Hail today in an 8 dog team. I don’t think he had ever been harness broken. He was in wheel and at first we thought he wasn’t going to go. He seemed afraid of the 4 wheeler. So we stopped and moved him up and he did way better. He figured it out and looked good running. He needs some TLC as he is very thin (although looking much better than when he first came in) and needs experience running in a team.
Hail is super friendly. I bet he would be a dog that would never run off. A sweet nice boy that is probably less than 2 years old.
Hail is outside in one of the back pens.
