Happy Birthday Raisin! She turns 14 years old today, Valentines Day. She is the last remaining dog out of her litter. Through the years I was lucky enough to get most of her whole family. I first got her mother Galena, then her father and uncles, Borax, Chert and Topaz. I also had her brother Daikon. Borax and Chert are still living also here and they will be 15 in May. Raisin was a wild sprint dog. She loved to run. Putting her into the team was always a challenge because she would be leaping 6 feet into the air. If you were near by she would leap onto your back or your shoulders. She would stand on the dog beside her and often get her legs through her partners harness….but amazingly enough the second you would start running she could always get herself back onto her side, untangled and ready to run. She hasn’t run in quite a few years. She has some tumors down her spine and her back legs have been pretty gimpy for a couple of years. But it doesn’t stop her from running around the yard and having fun! Happy Birthday Raisin. I love you.
