Here is a picture of Guru and Standard finishing the 2015 Iditarod in Nome!

UPDATE!!  Standard has been adopted.  Sounds like a great home.  All 4 dogs are going to have a super retirement life.

Update: November 4:  Guru Ninja and Martin have been adopted.  That leaves Standard at the shelter still looking for a home.  Let’s get him out of there!

Update: Wow.  Didn’t know a post could create such discussion.  Our borough shelter rarely euthanizes an animal!!  Sometimes it is the best place for a dog/cat/gerbil to go to be placed.  Vet checks, spays and neuters all factor in.  If people vilify our borough shelter, they don’t understand how far this shelter has come from 20 years ago to today in the care, feeding, nurturing and finding homes for all the animals that come through.

UPDATE~!!!! These dogs are now at the borough shelter.  They will have a vet check and be spayed or neutered before they are available for adoption.  If interested, inquire at the front desk at the borough shelter.

These 4 dogs are retired Iditarod dogs.  The owner has gotten out of dogs and has exhausted his list of people looking for a retired sled dog.  These dogs are socialized and friendly although Guru is a bit shy and Standard can be aloof.  They are all still running except for Standard who is a bit gimpy and would love a warm bed to sleep in!

Ninja is a 9 year old female.  Still loves to go.

Martin is 11 and still likes to go too!

Guru is very sweet but shy.  He is 8 years old.

Standard is 10 years old and doesn’t run any longer.

Sunday October 15th.
